Mumbai| After its proposal to form the government being rejected, the Goa Congress is deliberating on the legal options in front of it. The Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar told HW News that the state Congress leadership along with the Congress MLAs are currently holding a meeting to decide the further strategy.

“We are deliberating the legal options in front of us. Currently, discussions on what should be our further strategy are taking place. The floor test will be conducted tomorrow; we will come up with our stand by evening,” Kavlekar said.

Pramod Sawant of the Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) took an oath as the Chief Minister of Goa at 2 AM necessitated by the death of former Goa CM Manohar parrikar due to prolonged illness. Stakes had been high for the BJP for gaining a majority after Congress staked its claim to power. The new government has two deputy chief ministers, Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA Sudin Dhavalikar.

Apart from the CM and his two deputies, nine other ministers of the state cabinet were also sworn in at the ceremony.
