MP Cheif Kamal Nath

“I was never part of the politics of trade. No one pointed a finger on me during the 40 yrs of my political career,”: Nath said at the end of his address.

Bhopal| Lashing out at the BJP, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath says, “I would secure public certificate. Need no other certificates. BJP neither won’t defeat my state nor can it defeat my will. I have done my politics with values all my life. They won’t succeed ever. I am resigning and handing over my resignation to the Governor.”

He concluded the press briefing amid “Jai Kamal Nath” slogans from Congress party workers.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister announced his resignation on Friday, hours ahead of the Supreme Court-mandated floor test in the Assembly. The Congress government was staring at a collapse after Speaker N P Prajapati accepted the resignation of the 22 rebel MLAs.

Late on Thursday night, Assembly Speaker N P Prajapati accepted the resignation of the remaining 16 MLAs loyal to former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who recently moved to the BJP camp. “I have accepted the resignation of the 16 MLAs who have filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Based on what they have stated there, I am accepting the resignation of these 16 MLAs also,” Prajapati told reporters.

The resignation of 22 MLAs, including six ministers, had plunged the Congress-ruled government into crisis last week. With the resignation of 16 more MLAs on Thursday night, the strength of Congress has come down to 92 from 108. The strength of the House has also been reduced to 206.
