On Tuesday, The Maharashtra assembly unanimously passed the Maratha Reservation Bill, in a significant milestone. The bill aims at granting educational and employment quotas to the Maratha community. The bill received approval from the state cabinet for a proposed 10% reservation in both sectors. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde introduced the bill, titled the Maharashtra State Socially and Educationally Backward Bill 2024, which includes a provision for a 10-year review period post-implementation.
