The MVA has pledged to waive farm loans up to Rs 3 lakh for all farmers. As an added incentive, farmers who consistently repay their loans will receive an additional amount of Rs 50,000.
Many people’s assumptions and predictions were shattered yesterday when Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Rahul Gandhi shook hands at the MVA’s joint manifesto launch.
In MVA’s first joint rally after the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the opposition bloc unveiled a guarantee card of 5 promises. An experiment the Grand Old Party tried first in Himachal Pradesh, then in Karnataka and Telangana.
Guarantee number 1: Mahalakshmi scheme: To counter the existing Ladki Bahin Yojana, which helped the Mahayuti set the narrative in their favour, the MVA has pledged Rs 3,000 monthly financial aid for women across Maharashtra. Additionally, women will receive free transportation on government buses across the state.
Interestingly. the Mahayuti has promised to increase the Ladki Bahin Yojana amount from 1,500 Rs to Rs 2,100 per month.

Guarantee number 2: Krushi Samruddhi (Agricultural prosperity):
The MVA has pledged to waive farm loans up to Rs 3 lakh for all farmers. As an added incentive, farmers who consistently repay their loans will receive an additional amount of Rs 50,000.
Guarantee number 3: Guarantee of Equality:
Guarantee number 3 is something Rahul Gandhi has reiterated multiple times and has been a national agenda for the Congress party. That is to conduct a caste-based census and strive to remove the 50 per cent reservation cap.
Guarantee number 4: Kutumb Rakshan (Family protection)
Under this scheme, each household in Maharashtra will be entitled to affordable health insurance coverage worth Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, Essential medicines will also be made available free of charge in government hospitals.
Guarantee number 5: Yuvakanna Shabd (Youth support):
Under this scheme, the MVA has promised Rs 4,000 monthly support for every unemployed youth in the state. Now, the question arises: when Maharashtra’s debt is estimated to increase to Rs 7.80 lakh crore in 2024-25 from Rs 7.11 lakh crore in 2023-24, how will the MVA fulfil its promises?
Notably, Congress chief Malikkarjun Kharge just days ago stated, ‘Promise Only As Much Guarantee As You Can Provide.’
