Team Uddhav is convinced that it has the authority to impose a whip against the MLAs despite being reduced to a minority.
Mumbai: As the raging mutiny nears a sharp endgame in Maharashtra, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray announced a national executive meeting today.
The meeting that will include all Sena MLAs and senior members will reportedly decide the future of the Sena.
The assembly that will be held at the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Maharashtra, will be chaired by Uddhav Thackeray, who is presently recovering from a Covid-19.
Thackeray commented that the rebel MLAs wanted to “break the party” at a meeting of district chiefs that he convened on Friday.
“Those who want to leave are free to go openly… I will create a new Shiv Sena,” he said adding that the leaders sliding to the Shinde camp must be questioned, “The Sena is not finished” the leader added.
Mr. Thackeray in his virtual address added that “the BJP was trying to finish off the Sena”.
The leader added furiously, “Shiv Sena is an ideology… BJP wants to finish it off because they don’t want to share the Hindu vote bank with anyone,”.
The leader concluded by asserting that Sena Patriarch Bal Thackeray commenced the allegiance with the BJP, fearing a split in Hindutva votes.
Camp Thackeray member Priyanka Chaturvedi responded to Mr. Shinde’s assertion that the party was departing from its Hindutva ideology. She asked, “Which Hindutva teaches you to stab your party in the back, which is like a family?
The Deputy Speaker is set to deliver notices to the 16 MLAs who have joined rebel leader Eknath Shinde today. The deputy speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly has already received the names of these rebellious MLAs to start the disqualification process against them.
“We have given notice against 16 MLAs that they should be sacked. Now they will have to answer why action should not be taken against them. Despite issuing a letter, none of them attended the party meeting on Wednesday in Mumbai,” Sena MP Arvind Sawant told sources.
Team Uddhav is convinced that it has the authority to impose a whip against the MLAs despite being reduced to a minority. The group asserted that the Eknath Shinde camp’s claims that it is “the true Shiv Sena” are unfounded.
Shiv Sena legal cell attorney Dharam Mishra told NDTV, “The Shiv Sena is a registered regional party and Uddhav Thackeray is our chief. We have a Constitution through which the party president is selected,”.
