Maths never helped “Einstein” discover gravity, says Union Minister Piyush Goyal

Piyush Goyal said, “Don’t get into the calculations on the television that say for $5 Trillion Economy, the country will have to grow at 12%, today it is at 6%”.

New Delhi| Union Minister Piyush Goyal was the latest in the BJP fold to add to the controversial statements. Speaking at an event, the Minister of Railways, Commerce and Industries claimed that Maths never helped Einstein discover Gravity. Now, the minister’s statement has gone viral on social media and has become a laughing stock.

For the record, Gravity was discovered by Newton. Incidentally, Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and mathematician and physicist who lived from 1642-1727. He discovered Gravity when he saw a falling apple while thinking about the forces of nature. Einstein, on the other hand, was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics.

Piyush Goyal was speaking about the $5 Trillion economy goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Together, we can achieve the $5 Trillion Economy in the next five years.” He also asked the people to not to get into the “calculations on television”. “Don’t get into the calculations on the television that say for $5 Trillion Economy, the country will have to grow at 12%, today it is at 6%. Don’t get into these maths. Maths never helped Einstein discover Gravity,” said Goyal.

He further says that if he had gone by structured formulae and past knowledge, there wouldn’t have been any innovation.

Slamming the media he also said that it made a “Havva” of Angel Tax. “Why do we get carried away by the media that has created Havva about Angel Tax. Maybe two-three people got a notice, and the matter was resolved,” Goyal said. He also asked people to have confidence in the Govt led by PM Modi, that the govt solves issues in the real-time.
