Mehbooba Mufti blames ‘Orange Jersey’ for India’s defeat against England

Srinagar | PDP chief and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday blamed the Indian Cricket team’s ‘Orange Jersey’ for its defeat against England in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.

Reacting to the defeat Mufti on Twitter wrote,” Call me superstitious but I’d say it’s the jersey that ended India’s winning streak in the #ICCWorldCup2019.”

Mehbooba earlier wrote that the match against England has brought both India and Pakistan on the same page. She wrote, “Pakistani cricket fans are rooting for India to win the match against England. Chalo kum say kum cricket ke bahaane, for a change both countries are on the same page.”

Various political parties like Congress and Samajwadi Party had questioned the BCCI over the choice of the Orange colour for the away jersey. The Indian team sported a second choice jersey for the match against England, following International Cricket Council’s home and away rule.

Meanwhile, India on Sunday was defeated by the home side England by a margin of 31 runs in a high scoring match. With the win over India, the English team has kept his hope for the semifinal berth in the 2019 ICC World Cup.
