Mithun Chakraborty Registers As Kolkata Voter, Will He Contest West Bengal Polls?

Mithun Chakraborty, a former TMC Rajya Sabha MP, joined the BJP on March 7 before the rally in PM Modi’s Brigade Parade ground.

 

Kolkata| Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who joined BJP a few days ago, has become a voter of Kolkata before the West Bengal elections. After this, speculations have become rife that he can contest from a seat in Kolkata on a BJP ticket. Mithun Chakraborty till now was a voter in Mumbai.

Mithun Chakraborty’s family has confirmed that he has got his voter ID card from Kashipur-Belgachia.

Mithun’s sister Sharmishtha Sarkar told the media, “He has got their identity cards made from my home address. Whenever he comes to Kolkata for personal reasons, he stays at my own house.”

However, Mithun’s sister did not say whether he would be a candidate in this election. Sharmishtha said, ‘Dada is a legendary superstar. He will fit any position. It is nice to see them active once again.

Last week BJP had released its list of candidates for the four-phase elections, in which Tapan Saha was given a ticket from Kashipur-Belgachia. However, Tapan Saha later turned down the candidature, saying that he never joined the BJP. After this, the BJP had to face a lot of humiliation.

Mithun Chakraborty has now got a voter ID card from the same constituency in Kolkata, after which speculation has intensified that he will contest the election.
