Mumbai: MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday lashed out at Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in a statement.

“Koshyr’i’s smartness?
If you don’t know about the history of Maharashtra then don’t talk. Governor is a position of prestige and honor so people hesitate to speak against him, but his statements hurt the sentiments of the people of Maharashtra.”Mr. Thackeray said.
“In Maharashtra, people from other states are coming to do business here only because the Maharashtrians cultivated the mind and land here? On the other hand, will they get such an environment?,” the MNS chief said.
Mr. Thackeray further said, “Don’t muddy the atmosphere by talking just because someone said something in the run-up to the election.

Hail Maharashtra! his statement read.

On Friday during the naming ceremony of a chowk in Andheri, the Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari during his speech made a statement that Mumbai is the financial capital because the Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are present in the place, and this erupted a controversy with Congress MPs opposing him and Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut condemned the contribution of Maratha’s being unnoticed.

However the governor soon tweeted an explanation over the controversy raging on his remarks, “Marathi people built Maharashtra by working hard. That is why many Marathi entrepreneurs are famous today. They are planting the flag of Marathi in a big way not only in Maharashtra but in India and all over the world. Therefore, there is no question of underestimating the contribution of the Marathi people.”

“But as usual my statement was distorted. Marathi people’s hard work has contributed the most to the construction of Maharashtra. Lately, the vision of seeing everything through political glasses has developed, and we have to change that. Appreciating one community is never an insult to another community,” he added.

“Political parties should not create controversy over it without reason. Marathi people will never be insulted by me at least. In the progress and development of this Marathi land which is made up of various castes and communities, everyone has a contribution and the contribution of Marathi people is more,” Mr. Koshyari added.
