Speaking about the CAA, President Kovind said during the time of Independence Mahatma Gandhi had said that if Hindus and other religious minorities from Pakistan want to come to India, they will be welcomed. Kovind also said the government’s decision of bringing in the CAA will help these people. He said India should not ignore the recent attacks on Sikhs in Nankanasahib in Pakistan and must highlight such atrocities against religious minorities in Pakistan at the international level.

While speaking on the role of Parliament, President Kovind said the Constitution expects every Member of Parliament to fulfill the hopes of citizens and make necessary laws for them while keeping national interest paramount.
