โ€œMore Or Less A Done Dealโ€: Sources On Prashant Kishor Joining Congress

According to NDTVโ€™s report, top Congress sources said that poll strategist Prashant Kishor โ€” whose last attempt to join the Congress fell through โ€” is on the brink of success this time. Sources said that the poll strategist, who designed and led Modiโ€™s 2014 prime ministerial campaign, would join the grand old party and play a key role in. This has almost been decided, barring the contours of that role, which will be drawn up by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in consultation with Rahul Gandhi, sources said.

However, the special committee former by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to evaluate PKโ€™s proposal, wants him to dissociate from all other political parties and devote himself entirely to the Congress.

The poll strategist and his organisation IPAC have been involved with Mamata Banerjeeโ€™s Trinamool Congress and Jagan Mohan Reddyโ€™s YSR Congress, helping them craft stupendous victories in Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. However, the Congress leaders want this to stop now, sources told NDTV.

Digvijaya Singh, one of the senior Congress leaders having apprehensions about Mr Kishorโ€™s relationships with other parties, told NDTV that Mr Kishorโ€™s โ€œjourney has been from one party to the otherโ€. โ€œSo that kind of political commitment or the ideological commitment was not obvious,โ€ he said.

โ€œBut now that he has come forward with some concrete suggestions and the presentation that he has put up โ€“ yes, is quite good,โ€ he, however, added.
