P Chidambaram reappears after 24 hours, defends “was not hiding”

New Delhi | After going ‘missing’ for about than 24 hours, Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who is facing money laundering charges in INX Media case, said that he was not hiding but rather seeking protection from the law.

Addressing the media at AICC headquarters, he said, “Even FIR recorded by CBI does not accuse me of any wrongdoing. Lies are being spread by pathological liars”.

He said that he was not running from the law, instead, was seeking the protection of the law.

“For the last 24 hours, much has happened, that has caused concern to some and confusion to many. In the INX media case, I have not been accused of any offence, nor has anyone else, including any member of my family been accused of any offence, in fact there is no chargesheet filed either by the CBI or the ED before any competent court, further, the FIR recorded by CBI doesn’t include any wrongdoing by me, yet there is an impression that a great offence has been committed and my son and I have committed those offences, nothing could be further from the truth.”

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear his case on Friday.
