What PM Modi has done in 4 years, has not happened in 70 years: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday while attacking the Narendra Modi government alleged that what has not happened in 70 years of Congress government, he did in 4 years.

Speaking during the Bharat Bandh called by the Congress and opposition parties against the rising fuel prices and dropping value of Rupee, Gandhi said, “PM Modi said that he will do in 4 years, what did not happen in 70 years. And it is true, what has not happened in 70 years, he did in 4 years.”

Criticising PM Modi over his silence on various issues, Gandhi alleged that Narendra Modi Ji is silent, he has not spoken a word on rising prices of fuel, or condition of farmers, neither on atrocities against women. Questioning the election promises of the BJP, Gandhi said, “When Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, he spoke about jobs for youth, protection for the farmers and women of the country. It’s been 4 years and the country can now see what he has failed to do.”

Taking a dig at PM Modi economic policies, Gandhi said, “PM Modi by implementing Demonetisation has destroyed small businesses and small traders. Till date, he has not been able to explain why did he implement demonetisation”. He further added, “Narendra Modi keeps giving lectures. However, there is no way for farmers and labourers. It can only be seen for 15-20 people, the crony capitalists.”

Questioning PM Modi over the rising fuel prices , Rahul Gandhi alleged,” Narendra Modi used to roam the country and speak about the rising fuel prices. Today he is the Prime Minister and says nothing.”

The Congress president also spoke about the opposition unity during the Bharat Bandh event. He said, “The entire opposition has come together to protest against the Narendra Modi government. We will work together to remove BJP from power.”

Gandhi who returned from his 12 days Kailash Mansarovar trip joined the Congress protestors at the Rajghat in Delhi. Later he marched from Rajghat towards Ramlila Maidan along with NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Sharad Yadav and other opposition leaders from Rajghat.

The shutdown called by the opposition parties will be observed between 9 am and 3 pm in Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Haryana. Major 21 opposition parties including Samajwadi Party (SP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), CPI, MNS, DMK have extended their support for the Nationwide strike.
