New Delhi | The Congress party on Thursday alleged that the PM Modi and his government has created a fresh snoopgate through surveillance of the Central Beaureu of Investigation (CBI).
Addressing a press conference, Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi said,”Today, PM Modi, his govt and President of the ruling party are indulging in blatant and shameless surveillance on CBI and created a fresh new snoopgate.”
Speaking on the appointed of Nageshwara Rao as the interim director of CBI, Singhvi claimed,” The appointed interim director Mr. Nageshwar Rao is the same person who recently met Tamil Nadu’s Deputy CM O Panneerslvam, when CBI was investigating Gutkha Scam.” The Congress leader further alleged that another set of allegations were levied against Rao in 2016, when he was accused of misappropriating nearly ā¹3 Crore in the purchase of uniform for fire officials in the state, when he was chief of fire service directorate in Bhubaneshwar.
Commenting on the removal of CBI Director Alok Verma, Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said,” So many bank frauds have absconded with public money. Many activists and NGOs tried to bring this to CBI Director’s notice. Fearing this, the govt may have interfered in this issue and has removed the CBI Director.”
