PM Modi, Prez Kovind pay tribute armed forces on Kargil Vijay Diwas

New Delhi | As the nation observes the 20th anniversary of the Kargil war, when successfully managed to win back all the territories that had been conquered by the Pakistan military various political leader today expressed their tribute towards the Indian Armed forced for their bravery during the 1999 Kargil War.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharing a video tributed to the Armed Force on his twitter account wrote, “This day reminds us of the courage, bravery and dedication of our soldiers. On this occasion, my humble tribute to those mighty warriors, who favored all in the defense of the motherland. Jai Hind!

Expressing his gratitude towards the gallantry of the armed forces, President Ram Nath Kovind on his twitter account wrote,” On Kargil Vijay Diwas, a grateful nation acknowledges the gallantry of our Armed Forces on the heights of Kargil in 1999. We salute the grit and valour of those who defended India, and record our everlasting debt to those who never returned. Jai Hind!”

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu wrote, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay my respects to the brave soldiers of Indian Army who made ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to protect our nation. I salute all the heroes of the Kargil war and Operation Vijay who secured a valiant victory on July 26, 1999.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on his twitter account wrote,”‘Kargil Vijay Divas’ is a symbol of courage and bravery of the Indian Army. It was the bravery of our brave soldiers who overcame the Pakistani army with the inaccessible hills of Kargil and conquered the war. This bravery of Indian Army still honors every Indian. Bowing down to our brave soldiers.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the National War Memorial earlier today wrote on his twitter account, “On the 20th anniversary of the Kargil victory day, I bow to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army. The whole country offers tribute to all martyrs who, despite adversity, bravely defended the honor of India. Their indomitable courage and sacrifice are inspirational.”

Referred as ‘Operation Vijay’ India on 26 July 1999 defeated Pakistan in an armed conflict in the Jammu and Kashmir’s Kargil Sector. The war between India and its age-old enemy Pakistan started in May 1999 and continued on for more than 60 days along the Line Of Control (LoC) till the 26th of July. They crossed the LoC and intruded 4-10 km into Indian territory and occupied 130 winter-vacated Indian posts. The war triggered when Pakistani soldiers impersonating Kashmiri militants penetrated into the Indian side of Kashmir.
