Prime Minister is playing politics for electoral gains: BSP Chief Mayawati

Lucknow | Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) Chief Mayawati joins the league of politicians terming the launch of the A-SAT missile as a “political gimmick”.

Mayawati congratulated the scientists on the microblogging site Twitter.

The BSP leader accused PM Modi of playing politics to gain votes in the next elections, to be held next month.

“Congratulations to Indian defence scientists for the successful experiment of shooting down a satellite in the space. But the prime minister playing politics under its garb for electoral gains is most condemnable,” she said in her tweet in Hindi.

West Bengal CM and Trinamool Chief Mamata Banerjee also criticised PM Modi for gaining political mileage and has accused him of violating the Model Code of Conduct.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced that India had demonstrated anti-satellite missile capability by shooting down a live satellite, describing it as a rare achievement that puts the country in an exclusive club of space superpowers.
