Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stated in Parliament describing the situation in Kashmir valley after the scrapping of Article 370

New Delhi: Public Safety Act (PSA)has been slapped by the Ministry of Home Affairs on two former chief ministers of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir – Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah.

They have already been under detention for the last six months since the scrapping of Article 370.

Since August 5, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were sent to the detention center, when the Modi government announced the scrapping of Article 370 revoking Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcating the state into two Union Territories.

According to sources said that while “most of the political leaders were released after they signed a bond not to involve in political activity, around 10 leaders are in detention.”

Reacting on the PSA, Mehbooba Mufi’s daughter Iltija Mufti who manages all social media profiles of her mother tweeted: “Ms. Mufti received a PSA order sometime back. Slapping the draconian PSA on two former CMs of Jammu and Kashmir is expected from an autocratic regime that books nine-year-old for the seditious statementā€™. How much longer will we act as an observer as they desecrate what this nation stands for?” she questioned.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stated in Parliament describing the situation in Kashmir valley after the scrapping of Article 370. While addressing Lok Sabha PM Modi said that Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah had given inflammatory speeches before the scrapping of Article 370 on August 5. All three Kashmiri leaders now face PSA charges.
