Pulwama Accused Granted Bail As NIA Fails To File A Chargesheet

In a terrifying attack on CRPF personnel on 14 February 2019 in Pulwama, 40 soldiers were killed.

Delhi| An accused in Pulwama terror attack conspiracy was granted bail by the Delhi High Court after the National Investigating Agency (NIA) failed to file the charge sheet.

Parveen Singh, a special NIA judge, pronounced an order on 18th February. He observed that the accused Yusuf Chopan was entitled to statutory bail.

Chopan’s counsel had requested the court that his client is in custody since 180 days and the time for filing the charge sheet has already elapsed.

Court ordered the accused to furnish a personal bond worth 50,000 with one surety of like amount. He’s also been asked to join the investigation as and when needed.

Court has also ordered the accused to refrain from committing a similar offense, tampering with evidence, making any inducement, threatening or promising to any person acquainted with the facts of the case.

An SUV carrying explosives had rammed the convoy of CRPF personnel in February 2019, which killed 40 personnel. Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad had claimed the responsibility of the attack.
