New Delhi | Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony today, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder has informed that will not be attending the swearing-in.
Earlier West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also said that they won’t be attending the swearing-in. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee decided to stay away from the event after BJP invited families of BJP workers who died in the political violence in West Bengal.
Raveen Thukral, Media Adviser to Punjab CM has informed that CM Amarinder Singh to not attend PM Narendra Modi’s oath ceremony today. Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi along with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leader Gulab Nabi Azad will be attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2nd terms swearing-in ceremony.
The representative of the member countries of BIMSTEC i.e Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan will also be attending the oath-taking ceremony. Meanwhile, Pakistan and China are not invited for the swearing-in ceremony.
In the recently concluded 2019 Lok Sabha elections the BJP led NDA won 353 seats while the Congress-led UPA won just 90 seats.
