Rahul Gandhi busy on his phone during President Kovind’s speech

New Delhi | Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi, in a major embarrassing moment, was caught being busy on his phone for more than 15 minutes during President Ram Nath Kovind’s speech today, addressing th joint parliamentary session.

Rahul Gandhi was seen scrolling through his phone and then typing away for about 24 minutes of President Kovind’s one-hour speech.

However, UPA Chairperson and his mother Sonia Gandhi was quite attentive to the speech. According to eyewitnesses, Sonia was seen subtly nudging Rahul, as if asking him to keep the phone down.

When the entire House broke into a loud round of applause after President Kovind mentioned the Uri surgical strikes and the Balakot airstrike, even Sonia Gandhi thumped the table in appreciation but Rahul Gandhi kept staring at the floor unmoved.

President Kovind on Thursday addressed a joint sitting of both houses of Parliament – the Rajya Sabha (upper house) and the Lok Sabha (lower house) with a speech laden with hope, determination and will for a new and better India.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife that Rahul may step down from the post of party president after the debacle Congress faced in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
