Rahul Gandhi to visit his parliamentary constituency on June 14-15

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been scheduled to visit his parliamentary constituency, Amethi on June 14 and 15. Sources said that Rahul would be taking an inventory of developmental works in Amethi besides holding his usual public interaction meetings.

According to some sources, Rahul would meet booth-level party workers keeping in mind the almighty 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress party is said to be running a campaign to ‘expose tall claims made by Modi government’ among the voters across the state.

This is the third time Rahul has visited Amethi in 2018. In his last visit which took place in April, he had come to Amethi in order to address farmers in a number of places. Rahul had conversed with farmers in several villages to take a note of their problems.

Rahul had also joined his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in a visit to Rae Bareli. When Sonia could not undertake the Janta Darbar, Rahul took charge of addressing the complaints.

There have been rumours going around that the party may enter into an alliance with an SP-BSP combine for the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha polls. If that occurs then the party may field candidates on up to 12 Lok Sabha seats which will include Amethi and Rae Bareli as these were the only two meagre seats won by Congress in the previously held 2014 general election.

The alliance heavily depends on what pre-poll arrangement the party comes up with BSP chief Mayawati in Madhya Pradesh for the assembly polls, which will be conducted later this year.
