“Remembering the brave judge Loya,” says Rahul Gandhi over transfer of S Muralidhar

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Thursday attacking the Centre and said “Remembering the brave Judge Loya, who wasn’t transferred,”

New Delhi: As the Delhi High Court, Justice S Muralidhar gets transferred over the current hearing of the Delhi violence case, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remembers special CBI Judge BH Loya.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Thursday attacking the Centre and said “Remembering the brave Judge Loya, who wasn’t transferred,”.

His tweet comes after the President ordered the transfer of Justice S Muralidhar of the Delhi High Court to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, days after the Supreme Court collegium made the suggestions.

Judge Loya, who was hearing the high-profile Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case of Gujarat, had died of a cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014, when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague’s daughter. Family and activists suspect foul play in the sudden death of judge Loya.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra described as “sad and shameful” the transfer of the Delhi High Court justice who had on Wednesday grilled authorities over violence in the national capital.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, said the transfer represented the government’s attempts to shake public trust in the judiciary.

She added, “Millions of Indians have faith in a resilient and upright judiciary; the centre’s attempts to muzzle justice and break their faith are deplorable,”.
