Thane | A Thane civil court has summoned Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi and CPI(M) chief Sitaram Yechury over a civil defamation court filed by an RSS activist.
After the murder of the journalist Gauri Lankesh, Gandhi and Yechury had linked the murder to RSS and BJP.
City-based RSS Activist Vivek Champanerkar filed defamation case regarding their accusations.
Aditya Mishra, the advocate representing Champarnekar, said that no judicial inquiry or investigation has connected RSS to Gauri Lankesh’s murder so these people have defamed the organization by making false statements.
He said they sought compensation of Re 1.
“RSS is a social organization. That is why we are seeking nominal compensation to make everyone understand”, said the advocate.
Immediately after the journalist’s murder, Gandhi had tweeted, “Anybody who speaks against the RSS/BJP is attacked & even killed. They want to impose only one ideology which is against the nature of India”.
Gandhi and Yechury have been asked to be present in the court on April 30.
