New Delhi | Veteran Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Thursday criticised Islamic preacher Zakir Naik over his ‘fair trial’ remark and said that anybody who comes under cloud should have the courage to face allegations.
Speaking to Media, the former Union Law Minister said, “To say that there won’t be fair trial in our country is extremely unfair. We may have legal delays, but there is justice. Anybody who comes under cloud should have courage to face allegations and acquisitions.” “India would use “whatever instruments” available to bring back people like Naik, he added.

The Indian government on Wednesday said it is yet to receive an official confirmation from Malaysia with regard to the extradition of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal also denied the reports of having any information about Naik’s return to India.”We have no such information as of now. We are verifying it,” he told media.
Zakir Naik on Wednesday denied report about his extradition to India and clarified that the news is totally baseless and false. Naik who is facing criminal charges under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act was earlier denied relief by the Bombay High Court last month after he didn’t show any interest to help investigating agencies.
In a released statement, Zakir Naik said that he has no plans to come to India till he don’t feel safe from unfair prosecution. “Insha Allah when I feel that the government will be just and fair, I will surely return to my homeland,” he added.
