“When will CM Fadnavis rename Aurangabad and Osmanabad?” asks Sanjay Raut

Shivsena MP Sanjay Raut asked, “When will CM Devendra Fadnavis rename Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv Nagar?”

Mumbai| Joining the recent name-changing bandwagon by the Uttar Pradesh government, now Shivsena has pressed the Maharashtra government to rename Aurangabad and Osmanabad. Shivsena MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday asked the state government led by Chief Minister Fadnavis when will it consider renaming Aurangabad and Osmanabad. Raut was referring to the recent decision by the Yogi Adityanath government to change the name of Allahabad and Faizabad.

Targeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he tweeted, ” Yogi Adityanath has renamed Allahabad and Faizabad to Pragyaraj and Ayodhya. When will CM Devendra Fadnavis rename Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv Nagar?”

Ever since Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh changed Allahabad’s name to Prayagraj, a name-changing spree has erupted across the various state. Two days ago, Yogi government announced renaming Faizabad as ‘Ayodhya’. Gujarat Dy Chief Minister Nitin Patel too yesterday indicated that the state government is considering changing Ahmedabad’s name to Karnavati. “We are contemplating changing the name of Ahmedabad to Karnavati, the talks of which have been going on since a long time. Concrete steps will be taken after looking at it from legal and all other angles. We will think about it in the time to come,” Rupani told the news agency.
