Shiv Sena MP gave adjournment notice in Lok Sabha on Ram Temple issue

New Delhi | Amid speculation of an ordinance in Parliament over the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Shiv Sena MP Chandrakant Kahire on Wednesday gave an adjournment notice in Lok Sabha on the Ram Mandir issue.

The notice has come after the Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on December 5 had announced that his party will hold a Dharm Sabha in the religious town of Maharashtra’s Pandharpur on December 24 for the demand for the construction of Ram temple. The announcement of the Dharm Sabha has come after the 2 weeks after the Shiv Sena chief visit to Ayodhya. Thackeray had offered prayers at the Ram Lalla Temple in Ayodhya November and said the BJP government at the Centre “may not last” if the temple was not constructed.

Earlier Thousands of people gathered at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on December 9 for Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s rally to press for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, days before Parliament’s winter session. The right-wing group had approached President Ram Nath Kovind and state governors during previous phases of its temple campaign. In the forthcoming stage, it will hold religious rituals and prayers at temples and maths. The campaign will culminate at Prayag with a ‘Dharam Sansad’ of priests and saints. The final Dharam Sansad’ will be held on January 31 and February 1. The winter session is set to begin on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on 29 October adjourned the hearing of the decade-old Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute till January 2019. The top court bench including Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SK Kaul and Justice M Joseph has postponed the matter till January 2019 to fix the date of hearing in the Ayodhya title suit. The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, “It will come up in the first week of January not for hearing but for deciding the date of the hearing. Hearing may be in January, February, March, whenever….also the bench by which it shall be heard will be constituted.
