Mumbai| Former Congresswoman, Priyanka Chaturvedi, who shifted her base to Shiv Sena last year, has been offered Rajya Sabha candidature from the ruling party.
It was speculated that Shiv Sena can offer the candidature to either Former MP Chandrakant Khaire or Former Minister Divakar Raote, but none of them have been named. The old guards have been sidelined by the party.
According to sources, Priyanka Chaturvedi was eager to fight the RS seat. She was reportedly trying to get the candidature. Chaturvedi is considered to be one of the closest aides of the Tourism Minister and CM’s son Aditya Thackeray.

It is said that since Chaturvedi had set a proper ‘fielding’ for the seat, she was ahead in the race and now the candidature has been offered to her.
It was discussed in the party that rather than new leaders who have joined the party recently, old guards should be given preference for the candidature. The Shiv Sena leaders such as Chandrakant Khaire, Shivajirao Patil, Anant Geete were also in the race for the candidature since they had lost the Loksabha elections. Former Transport minister Divakar Raote was also eager for the candidature.
On the other hand, BJP has offered the candidature to Udayanraje Bhonsale, Ramdas Athavale, and Bhagwat Karad. They have claimed the 3 seats out of 7.
