Supporters of Congress leader vandalized party’s office after MLA not given berth in Maharashtra Cabinet expansion

Apart from Sangram Thopte, former chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s daughter and three-time MLA from Solapur Praniti Shinde

Mumbai: A day after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expanded his cabinet, Congress MLA Sangram Thopte’s supporters from Bhor on Tuesday vandalized their own party office in Pune as he was not given a berth in the ministry.

On Monday a total of 36 ministers were inducted in Maharashtra’s month-old cabinet taking its total strength to 43.

The police, while addressing to media said Thopte’s supporters ransacked Congress Bhawan, the party’s office in Pune, and shouted slogans against the party leadership for not conferring any ministerial post to Thopte, son of ex-minister Anantrao Thopte. Sangram Thopte defeated ShivSena’s Kuldeep Sudam Konde is 2014 and 2019 assembly elections. He won against Konde with a bigger margin in 2019 as compared to 2014.

Dissatisfaction spread among Thopte supporters after their leaders were not picked for cabinet berths in the ShivSena-NCP-Congress alliance government, according to sources.

Apart from Sangram Thopte, former chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s daughter and three-time MLA from Solapur Praniti Shinde. The former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan was also not included in the cabinet.
