Thackeray Raj begins in Maharashtra: 6 ministers sworn-in, first cabinet meeting tonight

PM Modi called and congratulated Uddhav Thackeray. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi congratulated Uddhav but also regretted not attending the ceremony.

 

Mumbai| Uddhav Thackeray (59 years) took oath as Chief Minister of Maharashtra at 6:40 pm on Thursday. Soon after taking the oath, Uddhav bowed and greeted everyone. Uddhav said at the beginning of the oath- “I begin the oath while offering prayers to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and remembering the mother-father.” After taking the oath, CM Uddhav Thackeray visited the Siddhi Vinayak temple with his wife and son.

Apart from around 70,000 supporters at the swearing-in ceremony, DMK President MK Stalin, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Neeta Ambani were also present at the swearing-in ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called and congratulated Uddhav. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi congratulated Uddhav but also regretted not attending the ceremony.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath to Uddhav

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath to Uddhav. On Saturday, 6 days ago, he administered the oath of Chief Minister to BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis. Earlier Ajit Pawar said that he will not take oath as a minister. He said that the decision on the post of Deputy Chief Minister is yet to be done in NCP.

6 former chief ministers attended Uddhav’s oath

NCP president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi, Congress leaders Sushil Kumar Shinde, Ashok Chavan and Prithvi Raj Chauhan arrived at Uddhav’s swearing-in. Apart from these, Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the function. These 6 leaders have been the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra.
