โ€œUnder Leadership Of PM Modiโ€ฆโ€: Hardik Patel Joins BJP Ahead Of Gujarat Polls

Former Congress working president of Gujarat and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader, Hardik Patel, today joined the BJP in Gandhi Nagar ahead of the assembly polls slated for the second half of the year in the Western state.

The Patidar leader, earlier on Wednesday, had said that that he is going to start a fresh chapter with the feelings of national interest, state interest, public interest and social interest. Patel, who quit the GOP recently, had confirmed on Tuesday that he will be joining the saffron party.

โ€œI will work as a small soldier in the noble work of service to the nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,โ€ Patel said in his tweet on Thursday.

Hardik Patel also vowed to launch a campaign to wean away Congress leaders in Gujarat.

Patel, who was appointed as working president of Gujarat Congress, resigned from the grand old party and stated that Gujarat Congress leaders were least bothered to address real issues of the state but were more focussed on ensuring that the leaders who come from Delhi to Gujarat get โ€œchicken sandwichโ€ on time.

SC Dismisses Money Laundering Case Against DK Shivakumar

Zaina Afzal Kutty

The Supreme Courtโ€™s decision today brings significant relief to Karnatakaโ€™s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as it dismissed a 2018 money laundering case against him. The Congress leader faced arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in September 2019 in relation to this case. He was granted bail by the Delhi High Court the following month. Shivakumar had previously accused the BJP of political vendetta and expressed confidence in the judiciary.
