UP govt to likely to name Azam Khan as ‘Land Mafia’: Officials

Lucknow | The Rampur District Administration of Uttar Pradesh is considering adding the name of Samajwadi Party leader and Rampur MP Azam Khan in the list of ‘Land Mafia’ category on state government’s ‘Anti-Bhoo Mafia’ website.

As per the local police, Khan has over 30 cases of land grabbing under his name of either government or farmer land. Speaking on the case, Rampur SP Ajay Pal Sharma said,” The District Magistrate and myself would be reviewing reports of various police stations in the district which relate to land grabbed by Azam Khan or his aides. Subsequently, his name would be recommended to be listed on the land mafia portal of the government.”

Earlier a case was registered against Azam Khan based of the FIR filed by the Revenue Department in his constituency. The FIR states that the Samajwadi MP along with former police officer Aalehasan Khan allegedly grabbed 5,000 hectares land of 26 farmers and constructed Mohammed Ali Jauhar University, a multi-crore project of Azam Khan.
