Pilibhit MP Varun Gandhi hit out at the center after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said the government must be congratulated for providing free rations to people.
Mumbai: In the latest search of his own party, BJP MP Varun Gandhi countered Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Revdi” jibe at the opposition.
The Pilibhit MP hit out at the center after a BJP MP told parliament that the government should be commended for giving people free rations. Comparing this to the huge amount of debts written off over the past five years, Mr. Gandhi tweeted in Hindi: ‘House expects ‘thank you’ for providing 5kg rations to the poor, says also that the loans worth 10 lakh Millions have been written off in the last five years.”

“The names of Mehul Choksi and Rishi Agarwal top the list of ‘free Revdi‘. Who has the first right to state funds?” he added. His post accompanied data submitted by Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat K. Karad.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey recently said in Lok Sabha that Narendra Modi’s government should be congratulated for providing free rations to 80 million people.
Prime Minister Modi sparked an uproar last month when he warned people about “Revdi culture” – “Revdi” refers to a candy among which votes from promising giveaways are sought. In a demonstration after the opening of a highway in Uttar Pradesh, he said the tendency of political parties to seek votes over promises of free gifts could be dangerous for the country.
The BJP has long attracted the friendly fire of Varun Gandhi. It recently targeted the party government in Uttar Pradesh on charges of leaking interrogative documents during a government recruitment campaign.
He also criticized the government’s decision to cancel the railway concession for the elderly, the introduction of GST on packaged food products and the new recruitment program of the center for the armed forces, “Agnipath”.
