Vilasrao Deshmukh was busy getting his son a film during 26/11: Piyush Goyal

Ludhiana (Punjab) | With just one Lok Sabha phase remaining, the attacks seem to get more intense towards the opposition.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that then Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh, was hung up only on getting a film for his son, Riteish Deshmukh.

“I am from Mumbai. You might remember the 26/11 terror attack. The then Congress government was weak and could not do anything. The then chief minister (Vilasrao Deshmukh) had brought a film producer outside Oberoi Hotel while shooting and bombing was going on inside. CM was concerned about getting his child a film role,” Goyal said while addressing business community.

He further accused the Manmohan Singh government of being “coward”.

“Our Armed Forces were capable then too but the decision was to be taken by the leadership. The security forces kept hoping that they would be allowed to give a befitting reply but they were not allowed to take action. That was a coward government,” the Union Minister added.

The BJP has perpetually used the military and nuclear strength in their election campaigns this Lok Sabha polls, including the Balakot Air Strikes that were triggered by the Pulwama attacks on February 14.
