Watch: Devendra Fadnavis files nomination, seeks blessings from Nitin Gadkari

Earlier, Fadnavis had contested against Ashish’s father Ranjit Deshmukh in 1999. Ranjit Deshmukh was then the state president of the Congress.

 

Nagpur| State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has filed his nomination for the Maharashtra Assembly elections today. CM Fadnavis is contesting from Nagpur South West seat. Fadnavis went to meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari before his nomination. Gadkari is an MP from Nagpur. After this, the two did a roadshow together and arrived to file nominations.

Apart from Gadkari, many ministers including BJP state president Chandrakant Patil, BJP general secretary and election supervisor Bhupendra Yadav and party general secretary Saroj Pandey also became part of the roadshow during the roadshow. Also before the nomination, Chief Minister Fadnavis went to various Durga pandals and saw the Goddess and met people.

The second youngest chief minister

4-time MLA Devendra Fadnavis contested assembly elections in 1999 for the first time. He is the second such leader after NCP chief Sharad Pawar who became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra at the age of 44. Sharad Pawar became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra at the age of 38. At the age of 27, he became the youngest Mayor of Nagpur.

First father, now son against Fadnavis

This time the Congress has fielded local leader Ashish Deshmukh against Chief Minister. Earlier, Fadnavis had contested against Ashish’s father Ranjit Deshmukh in 1999. Ranjit Deshmukh was then the state president of the Congress.

BJP released the fourth list

Today, BJP has released the fourth list of its candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections. In this list, the ticket of Maharashtra’s strongman Vinod Tawde, Prakash Mohta, Raj Purohit and Eknath Khadse has been cut. Voting is to be held on October 21 for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The results of the assembly elections will be announced on October 24.
