West Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh threatens to kill TMC members in encounters

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party president Dilip Ghosh has said that his party may conduct “direct encounters” against members of the Trinamool Congress Addressing party workers during a protest at Jalpaiguri district in north Bengal yesterday, Ghosh claimed some TMC leaders and workers were flexing their muscles and threatening BJP workers. “Either they will go to jail or there will be direct encounters. We are counting the bullets which killed our workers,” the BJP leader said.

According to a report, Ghosh also took a jibe at TMC leader Anubrata Mondal, who is known as Kesto: “We have burst the bubble of Kesto in Birbhum. We will do the same thing elsewhere. No bullet or gun will be able to stop us. We have come here to warn them not to attack our workers. Otherwise we will beat them in such a way that there will be no place left in their bodies to tie bandages.”

“Remember Gabbar Singh’s dialogue? How many bullets are in this gun,” Ghosh continued, with his palm clenched in the shape of a pistol. “The bullets will be counted and given…. And corpses will be counted too.” He also said the police would not be able to stop the BJP and its workers if they choose to “retaliate”.

The TMC condemned his remarks and called it hate speech, according to the report. A news agency reported that a case has been registered against Ghosh and he has been booked under sections 143, 186, 188 and 506 of Indian Penal Code.

This is not the first time that the BJP state president has made threats or used intemperate language against TMC leadership. Two years ago, Ghosh grabbed headlines by saying the the BJP could have had chief minister Mamata Banerjee “dragged by her hair”. Ghosh later had to apologise. That same year, Ghosh once again threatened to attack TMC leaders inside their houses and break their necks with bare hands, using RSS training.
