Prior to the election, 35 turncoats had entered the Mahayuti. Out of them, 19 were defeated. Among them, 11 are turncoats who entered BJP and 8 from Shivsena.
Mumbai| The 19 turncoats who had jumped the ship to join BJP-Shivsena ahead of assembly elections had to face a brutal defeat in the elections. The results have made it clear that importing candidates from other parties has cost the BJP dearly in Maharashtra. The voters have rejected the turncoats who were fielded by the party in Maharashtra. On the other hand, 16 turncoats who joined BJP have won.
Since 2014, BJP won a majority of elections from panchayat to corporation election. Therefore, some MLAs had joined BJP-Shivsena seeing that the atmosphere was favourable to the Mahayuti. Prior to the election, 35 turncoats had entered the Mahayuti. Out of them, 19 were defeated. Among them, 11 are turncoats who entered BJP and 8 from Shivsena. If not for the 16 turncoats who won, BJP wouldn’t have touched the 100 seat mark.
