TMC MP Mahua Moitra was barred by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from addressing the Lower House on the Ethics Committee’s recommendation. Birla noted that Moitra had the chance to present her case during the panel meeting, highlighting adherence to established traditions of past Speakers. Emphasizing continuity, Birla referred to the House’s tradition of following the practices of previous Speakers, citing the examples of former Speakers Somnath Chatterjee and Pranab Mukherjee.
