In a diplomatic triumph for India, Qatar has released eight former Indian Navy personnel, previously detained for alleged espionage. The Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the move, revealing seven of them, employed by Al Dahra Global Company, had returned to India. Last December, a Qatari court commuted their death sentences to jail terms following an appeal by the Indian government. The Navy veterans expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his intervention, acknowledging the sustained efforts of the Indian government in securing their release.
