The apex court today asked the central government whether it would pause the implementation of three controversial farm laws that have ignited protests at the borders of Delhi, warning that the situation has gone worse. “Tell us whether you will put the laws on hold or else we will do it. What’s the ego here?” Chief Justice SA Bobde asked the government today. The rebuking of Modi government from the top court came during a hearing on petitions challenging the farm laws and the farmer agitation at the Delhi borders. In sharp remarks, CJI Bobde said: “Each one of us will be responsible if anything goes wrong. We don’t want any injuries on our hands.” In this episode of Editorial, our Managing Editor Mr Sujit Nair shares his take on the matter.
