Headlines: Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium,World’s Largest,Now Named After PM Modi

The Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, earlier known as Motera Stadium, was today renamed as ‘Narendra Modi Stadium’. President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the stadium. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah were present during the inauguration ceremony of the stadium. Talking about Prime Minister’s name being given to the stadium, HM Amit Shah said: “As CM, he used to say Gujaratis must also progress in 2 fields-sports&armed forces. He took charge of GCA on my request&promoted sports here. His vision was that world’s largest cricket stadium be built here.”
