On June 18, former bureaucrat Arvind Kumar Sharma was appointed one of the vice-presidents of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Uttar Pradesh unit. The 1988-batch IAS officer who was known as very close to PM Modi, took a voluntary retirement from his service and then later on joined BJP UP unit. He was also made MLC from UP. There were murmurs that he will be inducted into Yogi Adityanath cabinet on the backdrop of the pouring criticism over the state’s handline of the Covid-19 pandemic. But that did not happen here. However, he was made BJP UP Vice President. All these developments were very fast paced. But one cannot miss the timing of it. Because, UP elections are just few months away. Interestingly, after taking over the post, AK sharma wrote a letter to state BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh saying that PM Modi’s name and blessings are enough top win polls in UP. I found this is a very interesting statement that he made. Especially when there are speculations that there could be possibly disagreements brewing between the BJP top leadership and Yogi adityanath. We will discuss What AK Sharma’s elevation means?
