Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Ladakh has sparked heated debate between Congress party and BJP. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a visit to Ladakh, stated that “China has taken away people’s land in the area”. He said “people have said that China’s army has entered the area and their grazing land was taken away but the PM said that not an inch of land was taken away, but this is not true, you can ask anyone here.” Rahul Gandhi also said that the people of Ladakh are not happy with the status given to them. “”There were so many complaints from the people of Ladakh, they are not happy with the status that has been given to them, they want representation and there is a problem of unemployment…people are saying that the state should not be run by bureaucracy but state must be run by voice of people…””, said Rahul Gandhi in Ladakh. Rahul Gandhi was also seen riding a bike to Pangong Lake. He also paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary in Ladakh. Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, BJP members have slammed Gandhi over his statement. BJP leader, Ravi Shankar Prashad said “I want to ask him if he remembers how much of India’s land was captured by China before and after the 1962 war. He said that Gandhi is questioning the sacrifice of our soldiers in Galwan. “Whatever he has said about Ladakh is absolutely wrong. I condemn his entire statement on behalf of the BJP. Rahul Gandhi ji, you are questioning our soldiers’ bravery and sacrifice in Galwan. Why are you defaming India? Why are you becoming China’s propaganda machinery?” Ravi Shankar asked. Union minister Kiren Rijiju also took an indirect jibe at Rahul Gandhi, complimenting the Congress leader for promoting the “excellent roads” built in the Himalayan region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. BJP leader Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has called Rahul Gandhi a Chinese advocate and has called Rahul’s statement unethical. The Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan stated that it was good to see Rahul Gandhi enjoying carefree bike racing on the glittering roads of Ladakh built by Modi government. He further challenged Rahul Gandhi to share any picture before 2014 where he is seen roaming so carefree in Ladakh. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera in response to BJP leaders has dared them to disclose the tender details of the road on which Rahul Gandhi was seen riding a bike and said Hindi films shot in Ladakh before 2014 had shown the excellent roads. Khera called the statements childish, and further said that BJP wants to take credit for everything. Now, as a citizen, I have a very simple point. I am living in 21st century India, and I have seen Nehru or Rajiv Gandhi or I don’t know how Nehru, or Rajiv Gandhi functioned… I am in a time where I have seen Mr Narendra Modi as the prime minister of our country for the past 10 years. I have a very simple question, why do all our present discussions and conclusions go back to Nehru or Rajiv Gandhi. Is our PM or the current BJP government incapable of answering directly, so they keep bringing Nehru or Rajiv Gandhi back into the conversation?
