CWC meeting: Why Congress did not want Rahul Gandhi to resign?

The suspense is finally over and no Rahul Gandhi will not be leaving his post as a congress president. In fact, he will continue as the chief of the party. The Congress Working Committee meeting that happened today had everyone’s eyes glued to the screens. After the party’s poor show in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the questions were raised on the party’s leadership and Congress’ relevance. Rahul Gandhi had on the day of results said that the responsibility of the defeat will be discussed during the meeting of Congress working committee-the highest decision-making body in Congress. Speculations were rife that Rahul may hand over the charge of the party to some other leader. The party meeting was attended by several top leaders including sonia gandhi, priyanka gandhi, manmohan singh, Ghulam Nabi azad, Motilal vora, KC venugopal etc. As per the information rahul did offer to resign from his post. but it was the CWC members who rejected it. Rahul gandhi proposed that he will resign from the party president post taking the responsibility of the defeat. However, the CWC members unanimously rejected it and instead authorized him for the restructuring of the party at all levels. #CongressWorkingCommittee #CWC #RahulGandhi
