Google Vs Australia Govt: Why The Search Engine Giant Is Threatening To Leave The Country?

Have you imagined a life without Google? With Significant population around the world using Android phones, it is hard to say if anyone hasn’t heard of or used google. The Search Engine giant has literally become the Go to site for almost everything under the sun. You name it and you will find the reference on Google. “”Google It”” as they say it. Google not only dominates the Search Engine market but in some countries it is the Search Engine. According to a study in 2019, the Search engine was visited more than 62 billion times. And this is just search engine. Now think about its other products, Youtube, Gmail, Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets and many more. All of these combined, Google is clearly the market leader. Now imagine, there is no more google in your country. Well, A life without Google That’s exactly what Australian Citizens were threatened with. And this came from none other than the company itself. Google is battling the Australian Govt over a controversial bill proposed by the latter. And not long ago matters had worsened so much so that the tech giant said it may stop providing search results in Australia if the government passes a new bill. Google which handles almost 95% search traffic of Australia’s 25 Million citizens threatened to leave the country. But the Prime Minister refused to budge and said “”We don’t Respond to Threats””. He added that “”Australia makes our rules for things you can do in Australia. That’s done in our Parliament.””
