At least four cities in Gujarat had decided to remove all carts and stalls selling non-vegetarian food from the main roads including. The action was initiated by Rajkot Municipal corporation followed by other cities like Vadodara and Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar. Political leaders of the municipal corporations of these cities had issued similar directives for the removal of non-vegetarian food carts from the main roads and had proceeded to remove them as part of their routine anti-encroachment drives. While, Gujarat CM categorically denied that there would be a statewide ban, he said that the govt had no problem with what people ate.
