IAF Chief Cites Winston Churchillโs Famous Words
He quoted Britainโs Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who held the position at a time when world-war two was underway.
He said, โWhy promise what you canโt deliver?โ
Prime Minister Churchill had famously said, โTo each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.โ

Pending Air Force Deliveries
The IAF Chief spoke about major pending deliveries. Air Marshal Singh spoke about Tejas Mk1 and said that it has not been completed after so many years. He also said that the Tejas Mk2 prototype is yet to be deployed and launched. Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh was also present at the summit and delivered the inaugural address.
The Air Chief said, โDeliveries of Tejas Mk1 are delayed. The prototype of Tejas Mk2 is yet to roll out. There is no prototype yet of the stealth AMCA fighter.โ
โWe cannot just talk about producing in India. We need to start designing and developing in India also, and when it comes to producing in numbers, the capacity comes in. So we need to have this trust between the forces and the industry to continue,โ the IAF chief Singh said.
The IAF Chief said, โHAL is just not in mission mode. I was promised that when I come here in February, 11 Tejas Mk1As would be ready. Not a single one is readyโฆโ
โWe were better than China in technology also sometime back, but we have lagged that and we need to catch up,โ he added.
