The mughal history taught in India has always been a touchy subject politically. But what if it was also removed from the school textbooks? Well, Class 12 students of UP Board and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will no longer study the history of the Mughal courts. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has removed chapters and topics related to āKings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)ā from history book āThemes of Indian History-Part IIā under its new rationalised syllabus to be taught in Class 12 from the academic session 2023-24. Similarly, lessons regarding the āCentral Islamic landsā, āConfrontation of culturesā and āThe Industrial Revolutionā too have been removed from the Class 11 textbook āThemes In World Historyā, they add.
