While Prime Minister Narendra Modi came out with a strong response to Congress’ frequent attack on the Rafale deal, today a report published in the Hindu gave a new twist to the controversy. According to the report, the Prime Minister’s office conducted parallel negotiations when the Indian Negotiation team was dealing with the French representatives for the Rafale deal. The report further noted that the defence secretary after knowing about this had also objected in a written note. The report includes a defence ministry document to the then Defence Minister Manohar parrikar including a handwritten note by the defence secretary dated 24th November 2015.
