The Supreme Court today decided that former SC judge Justice A K Patnaik will hold an enquiry into the allegations of conspiracy against CJI made by advocate Utsav Bains. Bains in his affidavit had said that the sexual harassment complaint against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi is a conspiracy by fixers and disgruntled former employees. The Court said that the chiefs of CBI, Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau will provide assistance to Justice Patnaik. The Court has also rejected the claim of privilege raised by Advocate Utsav Bains and has directed him to divulge all information regarding the issue to the probe team. Bains had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Wednesday in the suo moto proceedings initiated by the Court. He also stated that he was offered Rs.1.5 crores by the fixer for that purpose. He had submitted the affidavit and evidence available with him in a sealed cover which also included a CCTV footage. The bench had also clarified that this proceeding will not affect the in-house enquiry by the panel of Justices Bobde, Ramana and Indira Banerjee regarding the sexual harassment allegations raised by the former Junior Court Staff against the CJI. Now, justice AK Patnaik will look into the matter. #JusticeAKPatnaik #CJI #SupremeCourt #RanjanGogoi
