A day after widespread protests in Bihar, the RRB_NTPC student protest rocked Prayagraj. Late at night, the candidates created a ruckus, alleging irregularities in the results of NTPC (Non Technical Popular Category) recruitment examination of the Railways. Several trains crossing from the station were stopped at Prayag station. The protest however, turned violent in several parts of the city when police resorted to lathi-charge on students. Several videos of the horrific police assault on some protesters have emerged on social media. In one video, it can be seen that the police wearing safety gears entered a lodge and is banging and kicking on the door to open it. In another video, a policeman can be seen trying to break the door by the handle of the rifle. According to local reports, police entered the lodge, dragged some students out and thrashed them. Many students were injured in this lathicharge. Dozens of students were also detained. The candidates have been agitating for a long time alleging irregularities in the result of Railway Recruitment Board. On Tuesday, around one o’clock in the day, suddenly hundreds of competitive students gathered in Chhota Baghada. Then they reached Prayag station, raising anti-government slogans by making a procession. The large number of protesting candidate led to panic in the entire area and shops started closing. Protesting students also sat on the track in front of the engine of Kanpur Intercity Express.
